Accessibility at Model Communicator

Model Communicator exists to make communication accessible. This page documents both the accessibility of our website and the accessibility features within the AAC application.

Our Commitment

Model Communicator exists to make communication accessible. Accessibility isn't a feature, it's our mission. We are committed to ensuring our website and applications are accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, switch access, eye tracking, and other assistive technologies.

  • Color contrast ratios of 4.5:1 or higher for normal text
  • Text resizable up to 200% without loss of functionality
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Alt text on all meaningful images
  • Skip-to-content link as the first focusable element
  • No content that flashes more than 3 times per second
  • Form inputs with associated labels

AAC App Accessibility Features

The Model Communicator AAC application includes extensive accessibility features designed for people with diverse motor, visual, and cognitive abilities:

Known Limitations

We are continually working to improve accessibility. Current known limitations include:

  • Some complex grid interactions may not be fully accessible via screen readers
  • Eye tracking support requires iOS 18 or later
  • Custom grid editor has limited keyboard-only navigation
  • Some older browsers may not support all CSS features used for high contrast mode

We are actively working to address these limitations. If you encounter any accessibility barriers, please let us know.

Reporting Accessibility Issues

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website or in the Model Communicator app, we want to know about it. Please contact us:

When reporting an issue, please include:

  • The page or feature where you encountered the barrier
  • The assistive technology you were using (if applicable)
  • A description of the issue

We take all accessibility feedback seriously and will work to address issues promptly.
