Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work properly, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site owners.

Some cookies are "session" cookies, which means they are deleted when you close your browser. Others are "persistent" cookies, which stay on your device for a set period of time or until you delete them manually.

Model Communicator uses a very small number of cookies. Every cookie the application itself needs is essential. The only non-essential cookies are the Google Analytics cookies on this marketing website, and they are set only if you choose "Accept All" on our cookie banner. We do not use cookies for advertising or for tracking you across other sites.

Cookies We Use

Here is a complete and transparent list of every cookie that Model Communicator may set on your device:

Cookie NamePurposeTypeDuration
__clerk_*Authentication session management. These cookies keep you signed in to your Model Communicator account through Clerk, our authentication provider.EssentialSession
Application preferencesLocal-storage entries holding your settings such as grid size, selected voice, and language, so they persist between visits.Essential1 year
mc-cookie-consentRemembers your cookie consent choice so you are not asked again on every visit.Essential1 year

That is the complete list. There are no hidden cookies. Every cookie listed above is strictly necessary for Model Communicator to work as expected. None of these cookies track your behavior, build a profile, or share information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Analytics Cookies (Optional)

This marketing website uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-X4X35CN7J4) so we can see which pages visitors find useful. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_X4X35CN7J4, which hold a randomly generated identifier and session information.

Google Analytics loads only if you choose "Accept All" on our cookie banner. If you choose "Essential Only", or you have not answered the banner yet, no request is made to Google and no analytics cookie is set.

To withdraw consent, clear this site's data in your browser; the banner will appear again on your next visit and you can choose "Essential Only".

Cookies We Do NOT Use

We want to be equally clear about what we do not use. Model Communicator does not use:

  • Advertising cookies -- no Google Ads, no Facebook Pixel, no retargeting cookies of any kind
  • Social media cookies -- no Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, or other social platform tracking
  • Third-party tracking cookies -- no cross-site tracking, no data broker cookies, no behavioral targeting
  • Fingerprinting techniques -- we do not use canvas fingerprinting, font enumeration, or any other device fingerprinting technique

We will never add advertising cookies to Model Communicator, we will never track you across other sites, and we will never sell your data. This is a fundamental commitment of the project.

How to Manage Cookies

You have full control over the cookies on your device. Here is how to manage cookies in the most common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data

Please note that if you block or delete Model Communicator's essential cookies, some features may not work as expected. Specifically:

  • Blocking __clerk_* cookies will prevent you from staying signed in
  • Blocking local storage will mean your preferences are not saved between sessions

The core communication features of Model Communicator (tapping symbols, building sentences, text-to-speech) will still work even if all cookies are blocked, as long as you do not need to sign in.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever add new cookies, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date. We will also update our cookie consent banner to reflect any changes.

We will never add non-essential cookies without providing clear notice and obtaining your consent.
